Are Stripers destroying juvenile salmon

March 12, 2010

According to a recent article in the Sacramento Bee the dramatic fall in salmon population over the last few years may be the result of the introduction of the striped bass in the late 60’s. The striped Bass is known for it’s taste and it’s fight and it is a fabulous game fish for the money that it brings in to local cities due to the amount that fisherman spend during the season but scientists now believe that the striped bass are destroying the juvenile salmon run which impacts the numbers of adult salmon coming back in later years to spawn. They now believe that the Stripers should be destroyed and treated like a garbage fish with an open season and no bag limits.
