AT&T New Data Plans

June 4, 2010

AT&T is offering new data plans starting next week. Unlimited data is no longer an option a thing that many iPhone users are currently used to on their current plan. AT&T contends that most users would save money on the tiered plans but others could be charged more.

The data plus plan provides 200 megabytes of data for 15 dollars per month.

The data pro plan provides 2 gigabytes of data for 25 dollars per month.

Automatically most users would save 5 dollars per month by switching to the data pro plan because the unlimited plan costs 30 dollars per month. Hey it’s five bucks in this economy. But I can see a time in the future where there are products that we haven’t seen yet that make our data usage go up dramatically. I don’t know say 3D video on a phone that hasn’t been invented yet or gaming or what have you but much more data intensive than the current model of just surfing the net and getting your email.
