CHP and Three Other California Unions Strike Deal With Governor

June 17, 2010

The California Highway Patrol Officers, CDF Firefighters, and Psych Tech unions have struck a deal with Governor Schwarzenegger. The CHP will roll back their pension from three percent at 50 to three percent at 55 and also pay another five percent monthly into their pensions for a total of ten percent. The deal also protects them from the possibility of Federal Minimum Wage. Minimum wage is what the governor has promised the other unions if there is not a budget deal by July 1st which is the constitutional deadline for a budget. A constitutional deadline which is regularly passed by the Legislature and Governor in their annual wrangling over the California budget.
