Google What About Do No Evil?

August 14, 2010

It appears that Google and Verizon are about to strike a deal to end net neutrality as we know it today. What is net neutrality one might ask? Well, net neutrality means that no matter what you type of data you are receiving it gets the same priority whether it’s a movie or porn or a medical research project. With this Google Verizon deal we are essentially seeing the end of net neutrality and going to a platform where the company who pays the most gets the fastest delivery speeds. So large companies with a lot of cash can control the speeds of what we can download. Basically making the internet for sale to the highest bidder. The question is will the FCC stand for this or let this deal go through as planned by these companies. This Josh Silver article on the Huffington Post explains this all in greater detail, and lists the lawmakers who are our best chances of stopping this attack  on net neutrality.
